Satyryk was born at Janow Podlaski and imported to Sweden in 2001 by Lennart&Maud Arnrup. He is not just pretty, he raced in Poland with a result of 15(5-1-0-2-3). It is not surprising that he raced well, he comes from the illustrious racing family of *Sabellina. His first foal crop was born this year, one filly and one colt.

Satyryk belongs to the mare family of Mlecha OA 1845, from a Kuhailan strain. The Mlecha OA line is well represented in Sweden although the Safta family *Sabellina belongs to is not great in numbers. It goes back to the mare Lysa 1915 (the other branch is through Fanfara 1914) who was the dam of three mares: Mabrucha 1928 and Safta 1929, both by Pielgrzym-Thuja, and *Iwonka III 1936 by Ibn Mahomet.

Safta was the dam of Sabda 1940 by Miecznik who produced Salwa 1945 by Kuhailan Abu Urkub imp Sweden, *Sakwa 1953 and *Sabellina 1954, both by Abu Afas. Salwa 1945 has left a small family in Sweden through her daughter *Salvia but her polish offspring has certainly made a great impact. Her daughter *Szarza was the dam of Amerigo and thus paternal granddam of Khemosabi. *Salina, a full sister to *Salvia, is known as a producer of race horses.

*Sakwa left only two daughters that bred on but one of them was the important mare Sekwana by Banio, the dam of stallions*Set and *Sekstans by Etap.

In Sweden the *Sabellina blood was introduced first by *Sabrina (Aquinor x *Sabellina) in 1974 and then by the *Sabrina daughter Sekta by *Banzaj in 1978. Also, there are two more recent sources, the mare Golmohar, born in Canada and imported by Blommeröd, is out of the *Sabellina greatgranddaughter *Stokrotka (*Bandos x *Sasanka). The other source is indirect via the male line, the stallion Samsheik at Genberg&Co is by *Sabellina's son *Sambor by Czort.

The dam of Satyryk, Saszetka, is out of the legendary *Sasanka, a granddaughter of *Sabellina. *Sasanka won the Derby, the Oaks, the Criterium and had a lifetime total of 2/14(10-0-2). Santa, dam of *Sasanka, had a record of 2/9(6-1-0) including the Derby and the Oaks. Saszetka was a good racer herself with 2/11(6-3-0-1-0) and followed in her family's footsteps as she also won the Derby and the Oaks. Her brother Monarch AH (*Wiking x *Sasanka) is a champion racehorse and the sire of champion racehorses.
